Former Real Madrid star: ‘At this level, Bellingham is the best in the world’

Former Real Madrid star Fran García has this week opened up on his admiration for the talents of Blancos standout Jude Bellingham. This comes as the pair prepare to lock horns on the pitch as opponents for the first time.

Midfielder Bellingham has of course seen his name take its place centre stage in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the early weeks of the new season.

Fresh off a stellar campaign at the World Cup in England, the former Borussia Dortmund talent has carried his brilliant best back to the club stage, too.

All told, across Real Madrid’s first La Liga outings of the term, Bellingham has directly contributed to four goals. His performances have been so much more than just output in the final third, though, with the 23-year-old dominating every aspect of the game.

And one individual who appears unsurprised by the current level being showcased by Bellingham is ex-teammate Fran García.

Speaking during an interview with Diario AS ahead of Real Betis’ clash with his former employers on Friday, left-back Fran was drawn on the name of the Englishman.

And the defender made use of the opportunity to lavish Bellingham in praise:

“Bellingham is playing his best football. He’s more involved. If he’s at this level, he’s the best in the world.

“Last season was strange at Real Madrid. I think the World Cup helped free him mentally. For me, this is actually his best period at Madrid, even better than his first season. It’s not just about goals anymore. He has a much bigger influence on the game.”
