Former Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa is inching towards an imminent return to management, in the Premier League.
This comes amid the understanding that the Spaniard is in advanced negotiations to replace Marco Silva at London-based outfit Fulham.
Arbeloa is of course fresh off his first taste of senior management, after being cast into the world football limelight as Xabi Alonso’s successor at Real Madrid.
The Spaniard was appointed only through the summer, with his struggles to impress having seen Florentino Pérez and co. opt against offering Arbeloa an extended deal.
As alluded to above, though, the ex-defender’s reputation has evidently not taken too much of a hit elsewhere across Europe.
As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, Arbeloa is on course to be named the new head coach of Fulham over the days ahead:
‘The conversations between Fulham and Álvaro Arbeloa are progressing smoothly.
‘Following the contacts maintained in recent days between the representatives of the Spanish coach, Óscar Ribot and Luis Alonso, and the London club, both parties continue to bridge positions with optimism.
‘There are still a few details to resolve, but the feelings are positive and there is confidence that the negotiations can continue to progress in the coming days.’
