Former Barcelona star confirms he won’t return as long as Joan Laporta is president

A former player and manager at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Friday turned heads with his latest comments regarding the club.

This comes after he made clear that, so long as Joan Laporta is in charge at the Camp Nou, he has no intention of returning in any capacity.

The individual in question comes in the form of Ronald Koeman.

Tactician Koeman, for his part, most recently took his place on the bench at Barcelona between 2020 and 2021.

In the end, however, the Dutchman was sent on his way by none other than the aforementioned Joan Laporta, owing to a less-than-satisfactory start to the 2021/22 campaign.

And, if the latest comments on Koeman’s part are anything to go by, he has evidently never quite managed to forgive the Blaugrana’s president.

Speaking during an exchange with the press on Friday, the ex-Barca defender, who is currently in charge of the Netherlands, was asked if he would consider one day returning to Catalunya’s capital.

And Koeman went on to admit that as much would mark something of a personal ‘dream’.

However, he would not even take such a path into consideration, if Laporta is still overseeing operations at the Camp Nou helm:

“I dream of returning to Barça, but not with this president (Laporta). He doesn’t respect legends.”
