Former Barcelona and Málaga goalkeeper Francesc Arnau dies

Real Oviedo Sporting Director and former Barcelona and Málaga goalkeeper Francesc Arnau has died at the age of 46.

Arnau passed away on Saturday morning, Real Oviedo confirmed on their Twitter account. Arnau had been working as the club’s Sporting Director since 2019, also a role he previously held at Segunda side Málaga.

He started his career in Barcelona’s youth teams and went on to represent Spain at Under-21 level. He left Barça after three seasons in 2001 and joined Málaga, where he went on to play for the next 10 seasons.
