Forgotten Barcelona star tipped for shock start vs Mallorca

An out-of-favour member of the attacking ranks could be in line for what would be a shock start in the club’s meeting with RCD Mallorca this evening.

That’s according to Blaugrana insider Toni Juanmarti of Diario Sport, who points towards Ansu Fati as the player in question.

Barcelona are of course primed to return to action in short order.

Amid ongoing efforts to stave off the challenge of arch rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga title race, the Catalans will play host to the aforementioned Mallorca.

Ahead of this weekend’s Copa del Rey final, Hansi Flick has been widely tipped to rotate his XI for the evening, introducing some of the lesser used members of his squad.

It will nevertheless come as a major surprise, though, to hear of one potential inclusion in Barca’s line-up.

As per Sport:

‘Flick is seriously considering starting Ansu Fati against Mallorca. That was the coach’s intention; now we’ll have to see how the German will act in the final hours before the match.’

Should as much prove to be the case, wide-man Ansu would secure just his 2nd league start of what has been a hugely frustrating individual campaign.
