Five things from Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Al Ahly

Real Madrid advanced to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday by beating Al Ahly 4-1 in Rabat on Wednesday.

Here are five things from the match:

1 | The new Eduardo Camavinga – Toni Kroos relationship is very important for Real Madrid in attack. The Madrid defence play the ball into Kroos, who sees the game in front of him and likes to pick out Camavinga who enjoys getting forward from his new left-back role to build attacks involving Vinícius and Rodrygo, who got so much joy on the left flank.

2 | Dani Ceballos gives Real Madrid a different energy. He changed the game when he came on for Los Blancos and his assist for Rodrygo was a thing of beauty.

3 | Sergio Arribas (28 seconds) scored the fastest goal by a substitute in Club World Cup history. He surpasses former Madrid forward Gareth Bale, who scored after 47 seconds against Al-Jazira in 2017.

4 | Luka Modric missed the ninth penalty in the history of the Club World Cup. Madrid are the first club to miss two penalties in the history of the tournament – the first was missed by Nicolas Anelka against Corinthians in 2000.

5 | 13 penalties in Madrid’s favour this season – 9 have been converted (4 Benzema, 3 Rodrygo and 2 Modric) and 4 have been missed (Benzema, Hazard, Asensio and Modric).
