Ferran Torres fractures foot on international duty with Spain

Manchester City and Spain forward Ferran Torres has suffered a small fracture to his foot while on international duty with Spain, according to The Athletic.

The former Valencia man limped off in Spain’s Nations League semi-final win over Italy after a challenge from Chelsea player Jorginho.

Spain manager Luis Enrique referred to the injury after the game but still started Torres in the final against France on Sunday. Torres played 84 minutes in the 2-1 defeat.

A Man City statement said: “Ferran Torres has suffered an injury to his right foot whilst on international duty. The City forward, who scored twice in Spain’s UEFA Nations League semi-final victory over Italy and also started the showpiece final against France, has picked up a small fracture. He has since returned to Manchester for tests and will continue to be monitored.”

The 21-year-old could be out of action for six weeks.
