Real Madrid star Federico Valverde responded positively to a question surrounding the potential arrival of Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappé at the club this summer.
As much, of course, comes with Mbappé’s long-awaited move to Madrid expected to be confirmed at any moment.
After informing French champions PSG of his decision not to extend his expiring terms earlier this month, the 25-year-old has since been locked in negotiations with the Santiago Bernabéu brass, over the terms of a pre-contract for the summer.
Though work remains to be done in talks, it is viewed as all but a formality that a deal will soon be struck, with Real Madrid at long last set to land a player who has been in their sights for the best part of a decade now.
In turn, it came as little surprise when the subject of Mbappé’s impending arrival was put to another member of Carlo Ancelotti’s Blancos squad on Monday.
After Lucas Vázquez was drawn on the subject on the back of the club’s downing of Sevilla, it was on this occasion the turn of Federico Valverde.
Approached whilst departing Real’s Valdebebas training ground in his car, Valverde was simply asked:
“Kylian Mbappé next season?”
And the Uruguayan appeared altogether positive when it comes to the prospect of as much, assuring that his soon-to-be teammate is ‘always welcome’ in Madrid:
“Well, he’s a top player. He’s always welcome,” Valverde told Marcos De la Rocha of El Chiringuito TV.
