Fede Valverde recently visited his first club, Club Atlético Peñarol in Uruguay. The club have named a pitch after the Uruguayan star, and according to Relevo, he was visibly emotional when visiting with his wife and child. He stated, “I’m probably going to go home and think about whether this is real or not”.
Valverde’s Real Madrid future has recently been cast into doubt, after the signing of Jude Bellingham. With Real also wanting to go after French forward Kylian Mbappe, they have to somehow raise funds and the Uruguayan midfielder’s name has come up as a potential sale.
During his visit to Peñarol, Valverde was asked about his thoughts on a move to Chelsea, to which he replied: “No, no. I’m at Real Madrid. I try to enjoy it and leave my mark on this team that is the best in the world”.
Valverde has made his thoughts clear, but the Madrid hierarchy may still have to find a way to make money from sales.
