‘Favoured by refs’ – PSG Ultras send message to fans before facing ‘despicable’ Barcelona

Hostilities between French and Spanish heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have tonight picked up in a major way.

This comes owing to an official statement released by the ultras supporter group of the former, on Sunday night.

PSG and Barca are of course primed to lock horns in three days’ time.

As much will come at the Parc des Princes, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.

In the buildup to the clash, the discourse, for the most part, has remained respectful, with Luis Enrique in particular having been keen to lavish praise on former club Barcelona.

This was, until last night…

During the club’s Ligue 1 meeting with Clermont, PSG’s supporters sent a message to their Blaugrana counterparts, to make clear that the feelings of their manager do not extend to those who follow the club.

‘Puta Barca! Puta Barca!’ was heard booming from the stands at the Parc des Princes.

And as alluded to above, 24 hours on, those involved on Saturday night have moved to reiterate their message, in an altogether more formal manner.

In an official statement intended for the rest of the club’s fanbase, the PSG ultras group have taken aim at Barcelona in ruthless fashion, on their way to calling for the Parc des Princes to be turned into a ‘terrifying fortress’ on Wednesday night:

“On Wednesday we ask to make the opponents tremble as soon as they enter the pitch… This despicable Barcelona, so often favored by referees, must feel the hostile territory. It is our duty to make our stadium a terrifying fortress for them and with the determination of our team that’s unbreakable.”
