Fans take aim at Diego Simeone for Memphis Depay treatment after Atlético lose to Inter

Many a viewer of Atlético Madrid’s defeat at the hands of Inter Milan on Tuesday have taken to social media, to make their frustrations clear with Diego Simeone.

This comes owing to the Argentine’s decision not to make use of the talents of Memphis Depay.

Atlético, of course, made the trip to San Siro a short time ago, for the first leg of the club’s Champions League Last-16 tie with Italian giants Inter.

It was the hosts who dominated the 90 minutes, racking up 19 shots to Atléti’s seven, as well as five on target to the visitors’ none.

In turn, it felt only right when Inter’s pressure finally paid off, Marko Arnautovic proving himself match-winner with the evening’s only goal a little over ten minutes from time.

It is the Nerazzurri, as a result, who will make the trip to Spain in three weeks’ time with an advantage to hold onto at the Wanda Metropolitano.

And, as alluded to above, post-match on Tuesday night, many have made clear their feelings that as much comes owing to the decision-making of Diego Simeone.

Taking to social media in their numbers, fans have taken firm aim at Atlético’s long-time head coach, for a whole host of tactical calls.

None, though, has been more widely highlighted than his decision not to introduce the in-form Memphis Depay off the bench, with his side chasing an equaliser late on:
