Former Barcelona star Sergio Agüero is actively working to secure a payoff from the club, owing to the mutual termination of his contract.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.
Frontman Agüero of course enjoyed a short-lived stint on the books of Barcelona back in 2021.
After penning terms with the Blaugrana as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City, however, the Argentine icon was forced to call time on his career mere months into his time at the Camp Nou.
This came owing to a cardiac arrhythmia.
And yet, despite the brief nature of their relationship, Agüero is understood to be demanding a considerable payout on the part of Barca.
As per the aforementioned MD:
‘FC Barcelona reports in its annual financial report for the 2023-24 financial year that Sergio Agüero submitted a conciliation notice claiming three million euros that, according to the Argentine, the club owes him by virtue of the employment resolution following his retirement due to his heart problem.’
Agüero’s claim is currently classed as ‘pending’, ahead of being passed on to the relevant court system for review.
