Éver Banega apologises for breaking social distancing rules with Sevilla teammates

Sevilla midfielder Éver Banega has apologised on Instagram for breaking social distancing rules with three teammates on Saturday.

I want to apologise for what happened yesterday. It was a family gathering with teammates but unknowingly, we were wrong. I want to apologise to our club, our fans and society in general. It won’t happen again. We want to return to football as soon as possible.”

Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez and Luuk de Jong joined Argentine Banega and eight others for the get together. The Andalusian city of Seville remains in “Phase One” of Spain’s lockdown de-escalation, where a maximum of 10 people are allowed at social gatherings. The four players could face fines from the Primera club after a photo of the group appeared online.
