Edinson Cavani stays on at PSG for the rest of the season

Edinson Cavani will spend the remainder of the season at PSG despite numerous reports suggesting he would join Atlético Madrid in January, according to L’Équipe. Atlético submitted two offers this month: one of €10m and another of €15m but PSG were holding out for nothing less than €20m. The Uruguayan’s contract is up in June and he is expected to then move to the Spanish capital and join Atlético on a free transfer – provided Atleti beat off expected competition from Manchester United and Chelsea. Diego Simeone is said to be extremely frustrated from the whole process; his side have only scored 22 goals in 21 league games this season. Yannick Carrasco joined Los Rojiblancos on a loan deal today and will add a wide attacking threat, however they will have to wait for their top target.
