‘Difficult’ & ‘ruled out’ – Barcelona pair to miss Napoli clash after suffering injuries vs Athletic Club

Early updates on the wellbeing of Barcelona pair Pedri and Frenkie de Jong have come to the fore online late on Sunday.

This comes after both were forced into premature departures from Barca’s latest outing.

Xavi’s troops are currently locked in action with Athletic Club, in an always-testing La Liga showdown at San Mamés.

As things stand in the Basque Country, the sides remain deadlocked, at 0-0.

And yet, as alluded to above, the evening to date has proven one which all of a Barcelona persuasion will no doubt be keen to forget in a hurry.

This comes after star midfield pair Frenkie de Jong and Pedri limped out of the action, owing to respective injury concerns.

And the early info regarding the duo does not bode at all well for the Catalans…

As per a report from Spanish football insider Javier Miguel, De Jong has picked up a right ankle sprain, whilst Pedri suffered a relapse of a prior thigh injury.

The latter, in turn, has already been ruled out of Barca’s upcoming fixtures, including the 2nd leg of the club’s Champions League Last-16 showdown with Napoli.

Dutchman De Jong, meanwhile, will find it ‘very difficult’ to recover in time for the clash, set to play out on Tuesday, March 12th.
