Diego Simeone has made it his number one target to win the Champions League with Atlético Madrid.
Los Colchoneros were knocked out of Europe’s elite club competition midweek by only managing a draw against Bayer Leverkusen at the Estadio Metropolitano.
Despite the poor results in recent months, including losing must-win games such as the one against Cádiz last night, Atlético Madrid’s board are keen to extend El Cholo’s contract with the club until at least June 2026.
In an interview that appeared on AS, the Argentine coach revealed that he will not be satisfied until he wins the Champions League with Atléti:
“I have no doubt that the Champions League weighs on me, knowing that we lost one final on penalties and another in the 93rd minute. But I am very determined and I will continue to insist while I have the chance to be at this club to win the Champions League that we are missing.”
