Diego Simeone set to take charge of 450th La Liga game for Atlético Madrid

As reported by AS, Diego Simeone will take charge of his 450th La Liga match as Atlético Madrid manager when his team face Alavés on Sunday night.

Simeone is a name that has become synonymous with Atlético, as the former player is now in his 13th season with the club. In that time, he has managed 639 matches in all competitions, surpassing the 612 that another club legend, Luis Aragonés, managed.

In his tenure that has lasted 11 years and ten months, spanning thirteen league seasons, the Argentinian has accumulated an average of 2.07 points per match with 275 league wins.

His first came against Málaga on January 7, 2012. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, but he has since gone on to win two league titles, one Copa del Rey, two Europa League titles, two European Supercup titles, and one Spanish Supercup.

Simeone is the only manager in La Liga to reach this milestone while managing a single club.
