Diego Simeone plans for Ángel Correa to lead Atlético Madrid’s attack

Marca report on Atlético Madrid’s latest training session where Diego Simeone tried a new striker partnership.

Álvaro Morata hasn’t been finding the mark recently, which has prompted the Argentine coach to experiment with Ángel Correa in attack alongside Antoine Griezmann.

In Atleti’s last game against Celta Vigo, Morata played the first 60 minutes before being subbed off for Memphis Depay, without having found the back of the net.

The Dutch striker managed to score the winning goal, but picked up a knock that may prevent him from starting in the weekend’s match against Athletic Club.

Simeone appears to be trying a host of additional changes to his lineup, with Yannick Carrasco training in place of Pablo Barrios. The Atleti academy graduate only played the first half of the Celta game before being replaced.

Additionally, Stefan Savić won’t be available due to suspension. An unnecessary red card has sidelined him, with José María Giménez looking to play in his position.
