João Félix will return to Atlético Madrid this summer after a disappointing loan spell at Chelsea. Despite his desire to remain at the West London club, new Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to count on the forward in the 2023-24 campaign.
The former Benfica man scored four times in 20 games in England. Atlético head coach Diego Simeone spoke on El Partidazo de COPE on Thursday and left the possibility of the player leaving the club open. “If the offer is economically good for the club,” Simeone said.
The idea of an offer from FC Barcelona was also put to the Argentine tactician. “Because of the way Barcelona play, João Félix would be an important player [for them],” Simeone added.
João Félix’s name has previously been linked with Barça and he is a player that club president Joan Laporta likes. Barça tried a swap deal two summers ago between the Portuguese attacker and French forward Antoine Griezmann.
