Diego Martínez praises Granada for being the team with most games played in Europe this season

On Saturday, Granada welcome Barcelona to the Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes for what will be their 28th match of the 2020-21 campaign.

The Andalusian side have played the most games in Europe this season, qualifying for the last 32 of the Europa League in their first ever season in Europe, and competing in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.

Granada head coach Diego Martínez spoke in his pre-match press conference about his side’s season so far.

We will play our 28th game of the season against Barcelona. I don’t know how many teams have been able to do this. Barcelona are one of the best teams in the world and they have the best player in the world in their ranks.”

I am very happy with the performance of our team so far this season. We are going to play match number 28. I don’t know how many teams have been able to experience that throughout the history of football. 15 victories for a club like ours that, for the first time in history, has experienced playing in three competitions. We all would have signed up for this and it is thanks to these players who put themeselves at risk. They do not care if it is Three Kings day, the 30th or the 3rd, on the pitch of a great rival of Segunda B or against Barcelona. They are always competitive. I want to give them all the credit they deserve because we do not stop competing and we do not want to stop competing every three days.”
