Details: Barcelona’s increased new salary cap

The details of the new salary cap afforded to Barcelona by La Liga have on Thursday come to the fore.

And they highlight the importance of the ongoing work being carried out by the Camp Nou brass towards getting the club’s financial situation back under control.

Deco and the board in Catalunya’s capital, of course, were forced to work under heavy restrictions throughout the summer transfer window.

As much came as pressure ramped up for Barcelona to realign their books with not only Financial Fair Play guidelines, but also the strict caps put in place by La Liga.

Though the Blaugrana failed to hit their target of reaching the 1:1 rule, they did manage to reduce the club’s wage bill once more.

And, as a result, they have enjoyed an uptick in salary allowance moving forward.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, as of September 2024, Barca have been afforded a salary cap of just over €426 million.

This is a significant bump up from their figure of €354 million at the beginning of the summer, and over twice the €204 million allowed following the close of the winter transfer window.
