Deco holds meeting with Barcelona starā€™s agent

Barcelona sporting director Deco on Friday sat down for a meeting with the agent of a leading member of the clubā€™s midfield ranks.

The player in question? Pedri.

This comes amid ongoing efforts to tie the 21-year-old down to fresh terms in Catalunyaā€™s capital.

The early weeks of the new season have of course seen Pedri establish himself as a key contributor in the engine room of new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick.

The Spanish international has featured in all five of the Blaugranaā€™s La Liga outings to date, from the off in four, and chipping in with a pair of goals along the way.

As much serves to back the previous comments of the aforementioned Flick, who has long made clear the central role which Pedri plays in his long-term plans at the Camp Nou.

It should therefore come as little surprise to hear that efforts to tie the former Las Palmas talent down to a new contract have been kicked up a notch.

As per a report from Carlos Monfort of Jijantes, Barcelona sporting director Deco, this afternoon, held a meeting with Pedriā€™s representative.

During as much, the terms of a new-and-improved deal for the Spaniard were talked over, ahead of the expiration of his current terms in the summer of 2026.

The discussions, which lasted around 90 minutes, are understood to have been of a positive nature, with the two parties having one goal in mind ā€“ to prolong their commitment to one another for the long-term.
