Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s first leg tie away to Sevilla, manager David Moyes spoke about the favourites for the Europa League this year.
“I consider Sevilla as probably the favourites – Barcelona as well, possibly – so I knew the draw was very hard and, more than likely, there were several Spanish teams in it and we’d draw one.
“It’s a game where I know the manager a little and I know the success Sevilla have had in the competition. It’s incredible success over the period.
“The level of difficulty we know is high, but also we’re new, and maybe that helps us. Maybe we go into the game with no baggage, playing with some freedom, and hopefully, we can do that in the two games,” Moyes said in quotes picked up by West Ham’s official website.
