Dani Olmo track fades as Barcelona set sights on Athletic Club star

An update on the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s frontline with a view to next season has on Friday been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Barca insider Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, who points towards a ‘priority’ target as having emerged to reinforce the left wing.

The player being eyed? Nico Williams.

Recent weeks have of course seen a whole host of wide-men tipped for potential summer moves to Catalunya’s capital.

RB Leipzig standout Dani Olmo, meanwhile, has been pushed as the leading candidate to link up with Xavi’s squad by a whole host of sources in the media.

As per the aforementioned Toni Juanmartí, speaking to Blaugrana fan page Reshad Rahman, however, the Olmo option is beginning to lose traction.

Though Xavi is a keen admirer of the former La Masia talent, those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou are understood to be leaning more and more towards Nico Williams.

The Athletic Club starlet has enjoyed a fine campaign to date, with his haul of seven goals and a hefty 14 assists having evidently proven enough to convince Deco and co. of his readiness to make the step up to Barcelona.

Should the necessary funds be pieced together over the summer, an assault is in turn expected on the signature of the 21-year-old.
