Dani Carvajal: “We only talk about justice or injustice when Madrid wins the Champions League.”

Real Madrid host Shakhtar Donetsk in the third round of the Champions League group stage, with kick-off scheduled at 9pm local time.

In his pre-match press conference that appeared on Marca, Dani Caravajal was asked about Xavi’s comments about La Liga being fairer than the Champions League:

“Opinions are subjective. I think when you’ve won five Champions League titles out of the last nine, luck is out of the question.”

“Football is about results and the one who scores the most goals and concedes the least wins. In that we have been the best. It is difficult to talk about justice. They are results. We had a season in La Liga and the Champions League with ups and downs, but we were the best at key moments. We only talk about justice or injustice when Madrid wins the Champions League,” he added.

Caravajal was also questioned about Karim Benzema’s form after missing a penalty against Osasuna over the weekend:

“We know what the world of football is like, you go from heaven to hell in two days. The good thing about football is that we have matches every three days. Hopefully he can score two or three goals tomorrow.”
