Copa del Rey: Semi-finals

The first legs of this year’s Copa del Rey semi-finals will be held on Wednesday, February 12 when Athletic Club host Granada at San Mamés and on Thursday, February 13 when Real Sociedad host Mirandés at the Reale Arena.

It’s the first time since 2003 that the cup semi-finals will be played without one of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid or Valencia in the last four.

The semi-final matches in 2003 saw Mallorca beat Deportivo La Coruña on aggregate and Recreativo de Huelva beat Osasuna. Mallorca went on to defeat Recreativo de Huelva 3-0 in the final with a brace from Samuel Eto’o and a Walter Pandiani strike.
