Confirmed: Real Madrid’s starting XI to face Liverpool, featuring two UCL starting debuts

The XI set to take to the pitch for Real Madrid’s highly-anticipated showdown with Liverpool has this evening been unveiled.

And it features two players who are in line to feature from the off in a Champions League fixture in the club’s colours for the very first time.

The pair in question? Raúl Asencio, and Arda Güler.

Amid an ongoing injury crisis in his squad, Carlo Ancelotti has opted for youth at Anfield, with Asencio joining Antonio Rüdiger at the heart of defence, and Güler expected to feature in an attack-minded midfield role.

Elsewhere, Federico Valverde continues at right-back, with Lucas Vázquez considered well enough only for a place amongst the substitutes.

On the other side, Ferland Mendy steps in for Fran García, whilst Luka Modrić and Brahim Díaz are also introduced to Real’s starting line-up, after featuring off the bench against Leganés over the weekend.
