An insight into the stance of the powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid when it comes to the potental signing of Manchester City star Rodri has this weekend been provided.
This, for those who may have missed it, comes after Rodri hinted at his interest in a move to Spain’s capital during a media appearance this week.
Amid his ongoing press commitments after securing the Ballon d’Or, the 28-year-old sat down for an interview with COPE.
And, during as much, Rodri admitted:
“When Real Madrid call you, the best club in history and the most successful… it makes you proud and you always have to listen. It’s obvious. You always have to pay attention.”
If the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, however, then interest in a joining of forces is not at all mutual on the part of the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu.
This comes owing to a pair of key reasons.
As per a report from Marca:
‘This interest is not reciprocated by the Madrid club and it is not because they do not value the great contribution of the Madrid native, but it does not fit into their future strategy and, of course, with a recovery from a torn ACL in between.’
