Confirmed: Pau Cubarsí’s stance on Barcelona future amid outside offers

An insight into the future of Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsí has come to the fore online on Monday afternoon.

And the news will no doubt be met with widespread excitement on the part of the Blaugrana faithful.

The name of stopper Cubarsí has of course found itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya over the course of the last 48 hours.

As much comes after the Spaniard’s latest dominant showing at the heart of Barcelona’s backline.

Afforded a starting berth by boss Xavi in the club’s La Liga meeting with Getafe, Cubarsí took full advantage, shining on both sides of the ball en route to an eventual 4-0 triumph.

In fact, so impressive was the teen, that many suggested he was deserving of Man of the Match honours in Montjuïc, despite Raphinha having notched both a goal and an assist.

As a result, it will no doubt come as music to the ears of Barca supporters the world over to hear that Cubarsí looks set to continue his remarkable development on the books of their club for years to come.

The defender’s latest standout performance gave rise to fresh speculation surrounding his future, with the bargain €10 million release clause included in Cubarsí’s contract having piqued the attentions of a number of European football’s heavyweights.

As confirmed by the reliable RAC1, though, despite several offers, the 17-year-old only has eyes for Barcelona:

‘Despite having offers and a very low clause, Pau Cubarsí does not consider listening to them: he just wants to succeed at Barça.’

Negotiations with Cubarsí’s entourage over a contract renewal are expected to be kickstarted by the Camp Nou brass in the summer, when a clearer picture of the club’s financial situation becomes available.
