Concerning Vinícius Jr. injury update surfaces ahead of Real Madrid vs Girona

An update on the wellbeing of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has come to the fore this afternoon, and will no doubt be met with widespread concern on the part of the club’s supporters.

The name of wide-man Vinícius of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital on Sunday night.

This comes after the 23-year-old was a last-minute scratch from Real’s XI to take on arch rivals Atlético in the latest edition of the Madrid Derby.

A whole host of claims soon surfaced regarding the situation, before confirmation was eventually forthcoming that Vinícius was dealing with a cervical problem in his neck.

Though he did manage to take his place on the bench after being treated with painkillers, the Brazilian international was not deemed in a fit state to contribute over the course of the 90 minutes.

Ahead of another crunch fixture next weekend, when Carlo Ancelotti’s troops will go head-to-head with La Liga title challengers Girona, all associated with Real, in turn, are no doubt hoping for positive news on the Vinícius front over the days ahead.

As alluded to above, though, on Monday, quite the opposite has come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Cope’s Arancha Rodríguez, who points towards the attacker’s issue as being a ‘serious’ one.

Vinícius, who was forced to sit out training today, is said to be in considerable discomfort, with his availability to feature against Girona, as a result, far from assured.
