A concerning update on the wellbeing of a sidelined member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Thursday been forthcoming online.
The player in question? Ansu Fati.
Wide-man Ansu was of course dealt his latest fitness setback late last month.
As much came upon the 21-year-old limping out of training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, with an unspecified foot problem.
Following a round of medical tests, it was revealed that Ansu was dealing with a bout of plantar fasciitis.
This diagnosis was met with a range of recovery timelines across the Spanish media, albeit with the hope having been that, all going well, the talented winger would be back on the pitch in around three weeks.
As much, however, has today been thrown firmly up in the air.
This comes amid confirmation that, in fact, it cannot be accurately estimated just how long Ansu will be on the treatment table for.
Speaking in an interview with Diario Sport, specialist podiatrist Alejandro Bayo provided an insight into the situation:
“Fasciitis has no prognosis, we don’t know. It’s not three months, or one or three weeks, it’s very complex. It’s not like a muscle tear where a centimeter heals every week. Depending on the degree of injury, the important thing is to choose the best treatment at that time, either more conservative or more invasive.”
