Concern for Barcelona? Hansi Flick tipped for Bayern Munich return

The plans of the powers that be at Spanish giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s bench for next season could be dealt an incoming blow, courtesy of their counterparts at German champions Bayern Munich.

This comes amid suggestions that the Bavarians could soon move to bring former boss Hansi Flick back to the club.

German tactician Flick has of course been hotly tipped to replace Xavi Hernández in Barcelona this summer, with Blaugrana president Joan Laporta understood to be particularly keen on his arrival.

In fact, a number of sources in Spain have pointed towards the 58-year-old as the clear frontrunner for the post.

It will therefore no doubt come as a major source of concern for the Camp Nou brass to hear that another of European football’s biggest clubs are giving consideration to an approach for Flick, too.

As per a report from Sport Bild, the tactician was recently contacted by Bayern Munich patron Uli Hoeneß.

This came with several members of the Bavarians’ board ‘imagining a comeback’ for Flick with a view to next season… or potentially even sooner.

Current Bayern headmaster Thomas Tuchel is under mounting pressure at present, amid a concerning stretch of form which culminated in a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.

Should the decision be made to move Tuchel on, Flick could in turn be swiftly targeted as his successor.

The former German national team boss, for his part, is said to be spending a lot of time at his home on Lake Tegernsee in Bavaria at present, all the while keeping a watchful eye on developments at the Allianz Arena.
