‘Compared to Van Dijk’ – Could Real Madrid have their own Leny Yoro at the club already?

An insight into the fallout at La Liga giants Real Madrid stemming from their failed pursuit of Lille sensation Leny Yoro has been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Relevo, and points towards those behind the scenes in Spain’s capital having faith in the abilities of a number of their own up-and-coming defenders.

Whilst Yoro – who now looks bound for Manchester United – was always the plan A on the part of Florentino Pérez and co, missing out on his signature is not by any means considered grounds for panic.

Looking beyond the current first-team options at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti, Relevo highlight a further trio of names as being close to making the breakthrough at senior level.

First up comes 21-year-old Marvelous Antolín Garzón (better known as Marvel), who is currently plying his trade with Real Madrid Castilla.

Next is Jacobo Ramón, 19, whose efforts at youth level have long seen the stopper draw comparisons to Liverpool icon Virgil van Dijk at La Fábrica.

And rounding out the list comes Joan Martínez.

Considered to have ‘the most potential of all’, 2007-born Martínez is still plying his trade with Los Blancos’ U19s, but is widely considered to be a potential first-team star in the making.

For this reason, though Leny Yoro’s snub is considered a blow, it is far from the end of the world for a Real Madrid outfit who always have a plan B.
