Chelsea star Cole Palmer has this weekend pointed towards a pair of Real Madrid attackers as the game’s current standout players.
The subject of the game’s standout performers has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines across the continent over recent weeks.
This comes ahead of the fast-approaching Ballon d’Or ceremony.
As things stand, it is Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. who is considered the favourite for the prize, owing to his exploits en route to Los Blancos’ domestic and European double last season.
And one of the Brazilian’s biggest fans, it would appear, comes in the form of the aforementioned Cole Palmer.
Also making a name for himself as one of football’s very best courtesy of his exploits with Chelsea over the last 12 months, midfielder Palmer was this weekend asked for his pick in the debate surrounding the best player in the world.
And, during an interview with Goal, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, the England international named Vinícius as one of two leading candidates.
In the end, however, Palmer opted for Real Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappé:
“I’d go Vinicius Jr or Mbappé. Let me say Mbappé.”
