Chelsea to rival Real Madrid for Alphonso Davies signature

According to SPORT, Chelsea are considered by Real Madrid as a dangerous rival in their pursuit of Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies. The English club is ready to continue spending this summer in order to strengthen the squad and the Canadian is at the top of their wish list.

Davies does not want to renew his deal with Bayern and has just one more year left on his contract, meaning the Bundesliga champions will need to sell him this summer if they want to receive a transfer fee for their star man. Madrid have made the Canadian their priority target for the summer, even ahead of world-class talent Kylian Mbappé.

Furthermore, this is because of the club’s need to reinforce the left-back position. The 23-year-old is aware of the long-standing interest from the Spanish giants, but it appears that Chelsea are now ready to compete for the player.

The German side value the electric defender at around €70m, a figure that Madrid consider too high, especially with just one year left on his contract. However, the arrival of the London club to the bidding table could complicate the plans of the La Liga leaders, as the Premier League side have the financial means to satisfy Bayern’s demands.

Davies has also attracted interest from various other elite clubs such as Manchester City, who at the moment are just monitoring the situation. There are four months left for both Madrid and the Blues to negotiate with Bayern for the transfer of Davies, who is asking the German club for €15m to renew, an amount that both interested parties can afford.
