Chelsea reach agreement to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal

Nicolas Jackson to Chelsea has been on the cards for a while now, and Fabrizio Romano reports that an agreement between Chelsea and Villarreal has been reached.

As we reported yesterday, the deal was facing a problem, with Villarreal wanting the €35m paid as one lump sum in cash, and Chelsea not keen on those terms. An agreement has however been reached, with Chelsea paying just over Jackson’s release clause. By doing so, Villarreal have accepted that the fee will be paid in installments.

Chelsea have a wealth of youth in their squad, and they will be adding to that with their new signing. Jackson, 22, has played 92 senior club games in his career and the young forward scored 12 goals in only 16 league starts for the Yellow Submarine last season.

The Premier League side will be hoping that he can add goals to their frontline under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
