A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano is the subject of a transfer assault on the part of English heavyweights Chelsea.
This comes amid the understanding that Pep Chavarría is wanted by incoming Blues head coach Xabi Alonso.
Chavarría, for his part, is fresh off a fine season on the books of the aforementioned Rayo. En route to another solid 8th-placed finish for the capital outfit, the 28-year-old racked up 33 La Liga appearances.
Along the way, the Spaniard chipped in with a goal and two assists from his berth at left-back.
And as alluded to above, such exploits appear to have proven enough to catch the eye of those behind the scenes at one of Europe’s leading clubs.
As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano, following Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid:
‘Chelsea are in club to club talks with Rayo Vallecano for Pep Chavarría as new left back.’
