Chelsea eyeing Girona boss Míchel as Mauricio Pochettino replacement

The powers that be at Premier League giants Chelsea have turned their attentions towards La Liga, amid an ongoing search for a potential replacement for head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Argentine tactician Pochettino, of course, is under mounting pressure in west London at present.

Owing to what has proven a hugely underwhelming season to date – culminating in his side sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table – speculation has begun to mount that the Chelsea brass could soon seek out a change on the bench.

And, in the case of as much coming to fruition, one profile whom the Blues are highly appreciative of is that of Girona headmaster Míchel.

As per a report from El Chiringuito TV, as cited by Diario Sport, Todd Boehly and co. would swiftly make contact with Míchel with a view to next season, in the case of Pochettino being dismissed.

This comes as the Spaniard’s stellar work on the sideline at Girona continues to pique attentions across the continent.

The Catalans, for their part, currently sit 2nd in the La Liga table, aware that a victory over Real Madrid this weekend would see them leapfrog Los Blancos back into top spot.

The Girona brass, meanwhile, are said to be confident that Míchel will not be tempted into a departure this summer.
