Chelsea and Marc Cucurella agree personal terms

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have come to an agreement over personal terms with Brighton’s Marc Cucurella.

Yesterday it was communicated that Chelsea are in advanced talks with the Seagulls to bring the defender to Stamford Bridge.

Cucurella will accept the contract offered by Chelsea once the clubs have agreed on a fee. The two Premier League sides are in talks today and it is believed that the West London club are ready to meet Brighton’s £50 million asking price.

Manchester City are not willing to improve upon their £40 million bid, paving the way for Chelsea to secure the signing of the 24-year-old Spaniard.

Cucurella could act as the potential replacement for Marcos Alonso, who is being courted by Barcelona.

The Spanish left-back, who can also play as a wing-back or as a centre-back, came through the Barcelona youth academy, but failed to become a regular for the Blaugrana. He played for Eibar and Getafe in La Liga before he was brought to the Premier League by Brighton in the summer of 2021.

He made 38 appearances for the Seagulls last season in all competitions and scored one goal.
