Champions League group stage draw details

The Champions League gets underway in September, with the group stage draw being held in Istanbul on Thursday.

The draw features 32 teams. 26 teams have been given direct entry to the group stage and will be joined by the six winners of the playoff ties.

These 32 teams will be split into four pots. Pot 1 will consist of the holders, the UEFA Europa League winners and the champions of the six highest-ranked nations who did not qualify via one of the 2021/22 titles. Real Madrid are the only Spanish team in Pot 1.

Pots 2 to 4 will be determined by the club coefficient rankings.

When is the Champions League group stage draw?

The Champions League 2022-23 group stage draw will take place on 25 August 2022.

The draw will be held in Istanbul, Turkey at the Halic Congress Center and gets underway at 7pm local time (5pm UK).
