Carlo Ancelotti’s opinion on Xabi Alonso replacing him at Real Madrid

An insight into the thoughts of departing Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti on the appointment of Xabi Alonso as his successor has on Monday been provided.

The info comes courtesy of The Athletic, and points towards the Spaniard having the full backing of Ancelotti and his staff.

The name of tactician Alonso has of course positioned itself front and centre in Madrid across the day to date.

This comes after the former midfielder’s long-awaited presentation as new Blancos head coach was finally forthcoming, in front of the expectant media.

After his arrival was made official by way of a statement late last week, Real Madrid’s fans have been afforded a first chance to see Alonso back representing their club’s colours.

And the 43-year-old, in doing so, boasts the total support of the man whom he is set to replace on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu.

As per a report from club insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:

‘Even Carlo Ancelotti and most of his staff view him (Alonso) as the perfect replacement.’
