Carlo Ancelotti tests Real Madrid star in new role ahead of Leganés

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti tested defender Raúl Asencio in a new position in training over recent days.

That’s according to Relevo, who have confirmed that the 21-year-old was utilised as a right-back in a series of matches between ranks.

Asencio has for his part of course taken his place front and centre in the chatter in Spain’s capital over the last week.

This comes after the Spaniard took full advantage of his first-team debut in the colours of Real Madrid, thoroughly impressing en route to an eventual 4-0 drubbing of Osasuna.

So at home did he look on the senior stage, that Asencio has since been afforded a permanent place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

And, as alluded to above, over recent days, the Blancos coaching staff took advantage of as much to test the stopper in a new role.

As per Relevo, amid the emergency situation at right-back in Madrid owing to the respective absences of Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez, Asencio was tested as an emergency option, with a view to the weeks ahead.
