Carlo Ancelotti speaks out on Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen signing

Departing Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has on Saturday weighed in on the club’s signing of Dean Huijsen.

The name of defender Huijsen has of course proven an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after official confirmation was forthcoming that the 20-year-old has penned terms with Real Madrid.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Los Blancos:

‘Real Madrid C.F. and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Dean Huijsen, who will be linked to our club for the next five seasons, from 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2030.’

Speaking during an ensuing press conference on Saturday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when Huijsen’s name was quickly put to the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti.

And though he will not be afforded the chance to oversee the young stopper’s talents, Ancelotti went on to assure:

“Huijsen is a great player, young, with great potential and projection. The signing is very good on Real Madrid’s part. Last year it wasn’t even a possibility because we had Alaba back in the squad, Carvajal and Militão in good shape, and then injuries hurt us.”
