Carlo Ancelotti reveals how Real Madrid will deal with Aurelien Tchouameni suspension

Real Madrid player Aurelien Tchouameni will miss the second-leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against Manchester City, after he was booked for a cynical foul in the 3-3 draw in the first leg.

This news is a huge blow for Madrid, as the Frenchman has impressed at the heart of defence alongside Antonio Rüdiger. Although, Tchouameni is naturally a defensive midfielder, he has made a great relationship with Rüdiger and has been preferred over both Nacho and Éder Militão this season by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The France international was impressive in the thrilling encounter last night and essentially nullified the threat of Man City striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian was second best in his duels with Tchouameni, who limited the chances he had all games.

Although Tchouameni will be unavailable for the second leg, due to suspension, Ancelotti is not worried and is confident that he has players at his disposal that will be able to step in to fill the void left by the 24-year-old.

He said: “We’ve lost Aurelien Tchouameni for the return leg but I’m not worried. We have Nacho and we trust him as always, but we also have Éder Militão.”
