Carlo Ancelotti wants new deal for Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has dropped a fresh hint over his future with the club.

The subject of Ancelotti’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu has of course long taken its place centre stage in the Spanish football headlines.

The Italian’s contract in Madrid is set to expire in a little over six months’ time, with the hierarchy of the Brazilian national team working hard to persuade him to take up the reins of their faltering side.

Contrasting reports, though, continue to surface in the media, regarding Real Madrid’s stance on Ancelotti’s place in the dugout.

To this point, Los Blancos have not offered up fresh terms to the experienced tactician, with the situation viewed as a fluid one.

If the latest comments on the part of Ancelotti himself are anything to go by, though, then he appears to be open to the prospect of staying put in Spain’s capital.

Speaking to the media ahead of Real’s Champions League meeting with Napoli on Wednesday, the 64-year-old was, once more, asked about his future.

And though he was first hesitant to open up on the situation, Ancelotti later responded to Dani Carvajal’s claim that he would ‘renew him tomorrow’, by jokingly suggesting that he and the Spanish international are currently pushing Florentino Pérez and co. to extend each other’s contracts:

“He’s right (laughs). I have asked for Carvajal’s renewal until 2030. We have agreed to persuade the club for each other (laughs). It’s a joke, I thank him. He’s an example of seriousness.”
