Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has issued a response to claims on the part of Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola that the Sky Blues have only a miniscule chance of besting the Spanish champions on Wednesday.
Real and Man City are of course primed to lock horns for the 2nd time in the space of a week tomorrow evening.
In the 2nd leg of the Champions League playoff tie between the clubs, the former will welcome the English champions to the Santiago Bernabéu, with a place in the competition’s Last-16 on the line.
As things stand, it is Real Madrid who boast the advantage, owing to a comeback 3-2 triumph at The Etihad last week.
This advantage, in the eyes of Pep Guardiola, makes his side’s upcoming opponents the overwhelming favourites to advance.
In fact, speaking to the media over the weekend, the Spaniard went as far as to state:
“The margin to win at the Bernabéu is very small. I don’t know if we reach one percent… Perhaps it will be less.”
During his own pre-match press conference on Tuesday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Guardiola’s comments was put to Carlo Ancelotti.
And Real Madrid’s headmaster went on to respond:
“Tomorrow before the game, I’ll ask Pep Guardiola if he really thinks Man City have a 1% chance against us! We don’t think we have a 99% chance. We think we have a small advantage that we have to make the most of.”
