Carlo Ancelotti & Real Madrid board continue to disagree over transfer market plans

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is in disagreement with the club’s board, when it comes to plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards this difference of opinion as coming in relation to Los Blancos’ defensive ranks.

Ancelotti, it is understood, is of the opinion that the heart of his backline is in need of reinforcement.

With Nacho having opted to move on, David Alaba sidelined long-term, and youngster Joan Martínez having suffered an ACL tear last week, Real’s already limited central defensive options are beginning to look alarmingly bare.

As per The Athletic, the club’s headmaster, as a result, has made clear to those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu that he ‘feels the signing of a centre-back is necessary’ over the weeks ahead.

Ancelotti’s pleas, however, have fallen on deaf ears…

This comes with it also confirmed that Florentino Pérez and co. ‘believe the current squad is ready to fight for major titles’.

No further signings, in turn, are expected to be sought.
