Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is giving serious consideration to moving forward with Federico Valverde as the first-choice right-back in his squad.
Midfielder Valverde was of course asked to fill in at full-back once more on Wednesday, as Real Madrid played host to Manchester City in the Champions League.
And, en route to an eventual 3-1 Blancos triumph, the Uruguayan conjured up nothing short of a brilliant display.
Unflappable in his defending and explosive going forward with a wonderful final ball, Valverde looked an absolute natural in the role.
To the point that his manager is giving real consideration to continuing with the 26-year-old as a defender for the weeks and months ahead.
As per a report from Relevo, Carlo Ancelotti already considers Valverde as a superior option to Lucas Vázquez, to the point that:
‘Ancelotti is considering keeping him on the wing even when Lucas returns, practically fit.’
