Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided an update on the wellbeing of midfield standout Federico Valverde.
Valverde, for his part, of course, marked his return to action in midweek.
After sitting out each of Real Madrid’s prior three fixtures owing to a fitness issue, the Uruguayan stepped in at right-back once more against Atlético Madrid.
And though he went on to shine once more, Valverde was ultimately hooked from proceedings late on, in evident discomfort.
Ahead of next week’s Madrid Derby return leg, it had in turn been suggested in the media that the 26-year-old could be left out of Los Blancos’ squad to face Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
This, however, looks unlikely to be the case.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Saturday afternoon, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed:
“Fede Valverde is available. He arrived just before Atléti, but he has improved and is in good condition. He can play. We will see.”
