Carlo Ancelotti: “Karim Benzema is in amazing form.”

In an exclusive interview with AS, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti discussed all things Real Madrid as his side sit top of La Liga at Christmas.

Have Real Madrid got La Liga sewn up?

I don’t think so, no. We’ve got a small advantage and it’s true that some of our rivals, such as Atlético Madrid or Barcelona, are somewhat behind. But not Sevilla, for example. La Liga is a tough competition because you can never say this is an easy game. There are so many good teams and so much good football on offer.

Can Vinicius get better?

Of course. Vinicius has amazing speed and skill. I’ve never seen a player so good dribbling, so good at beating his man. But he still has the capacity to get better, for example, with his play off the ball, attacking spaces and shooting.

Is Karim Benzema the best striker in the world?

I think so, because to his game he’s added the ability to put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis. He’s at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo or [Erling] Haaland. Benzema is a player who makes a difference. We saw it once again in the game against Athletic [Club], with two goals in quick succession. He’s in amazing form.
